Due to the recent addition of a number of new projects and managed service customers, Ardenta needs to add two strong Informix professionals with good UNIX/Linux skills to its Services Team.
Other essential skills are strong inter-personal skills and the ability to write reports (such as incident reports) and presentations in a clear and logical manner.
The role will involve helping support Ardenta's customers, mainly running Informix systems.
Ardenta's services for its customers involve far more than Informix alone. Aside from support we often design from scratch the infrastructure for Informix-based systems. Ardenta is usually responsible, in addition to Informix, for the pre- and post-implementation management of the operating system, SAN and sometimes infrastructure of the customer's systems, so there is excellent opportunity for exposure to new technologies such as networking, SAN, Solid-state disk technology, web-enabling technologies, other DBMSs (specifically Oracle), and many more.
Ardenta's philosophy is be proactive wherever possible, so a typical day might involve reactive work but the candidate would be expected to look at trends and new business initiatives with a view to proposing technical solutions to these.
Although Ardenta's customers are all over the world, the role is primarily Sunbury-based, with home working for out-of-hours activities, and the occasional on-site visit. You would be working in a team of technical and service delivery staff. The role will involve looking after existing, new and potential customers worldwide (UK, Europe, N America, Far East, Australia).
